TPG Twitter follower Saianel has a question about transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points:

@thepointsguy do you recommend transferring points earned with Chase Ink Plus to any specific hotels ahead of time?”

The answer is no. The beauty of Chase points is that they transfer instantly to most of their partners (sometimes IHG Rewards/Priority Club takes a day or two), and what’s great about that is knowing that you can transfer to any of the ten partners depending on your needs.

The one exception I’d note is if a program is going to devalue their awards and you want to book awards before they do that. For instance, Hyatt is devaluing its award chart in January by creating a new top-tier category and raising the award points requirements on some categories, and I know a lot of people are trying to book their awards before those changes come into effect. So it might make sense to transfer points now and book some stays at the pre-devaluation levels that might make sense.

You should always have a specific booking in mind, though. I don’t recommend just transferring points – whether it’s Amex or Chase – randomly into programs. If you have Starwood Preferred Guest points, transfer times can turn into weeks in some cases, so the downside there is that you could find amazing award availability, transfer your points to your airline account then sit around for days on end waiting for the miles to show up and when they do, that award has disappeared.

However, in general, you shouldn’t transfer your transferable points until you have a booking in mind, and certainly not with Chase since those transfers go through instantly for the most part, especially to Hyatt.
