Delta and Starwood launched a partnership last year called Crossover Rewards where elite members of both loyalty programs reciprocal benefits. SPG Gold and Platinum members will receive bonus Starpoints on purchased Delta fares.
As an SPG elite member, when you book a Delta-marketed and operated flight will receive one Starpoint for every one US dollar. SPG Platinum members will receive priority check-in, priority boarding, and waived baggage fees (and in September, SPG Platinums also got access to complimentary upgrades – though reports of those upgrades coming through are pretty sketchy).
When Delta Medallions stay with Starwood, they’ll receive one SkyMile per $1 of eligible room revenue. Delta Platinum and Diamond Medallion members will receive elite check-in line access, free in-room high-speed internet access and late check-out.
Yesterday, Starwood announced a promo from April 1 through April 30, 2014, where SkyMiles Medallion members registered for Crossover Rewards will earn double miles (2 miles per eligible dollar spent on room rates) for all eligible stays at any Sheraton hotel or resort in the United States or Canada. You can find the T&C here, but just note that award stays and Cash & Point stays are not eligible earning stays for this promotion; and eligible stays with at least one night in the earning period will receive double miles. Participating properties are any Sheraton hotel or resort in the United States or Canada. Four Points by Sheraton hotels and resorts are not eligible for this offer.
While earning a couple extra SkyMiles at Sheratons probably won’t make most of us book any additional stays or switch around travel plans, at least you should be aware that the promo is going on and if you have a choice of a Sheraton to stay at versus another property, you can consider booking it for the bonus. This is also a step in the right direction for Crossover Rewards because we haven’t seen promos like this from the partnership yet and I’d love to see some more exciting ones come around in the future – especially if there’s a chance to earn bonus Starpoints on Delta flights!
