Here’s a recap of the top points and miles news from this week:
Hilton HHonors 2X/3X Miles For China Eastern: Hilton HHonors is offering 2X or 3X miles for China Eastern frequent flyer stays until September 30, 2014. You can earn triple miles for stays at 44 participating Greater China hotels and double miles everywhere else. In addition to registering for the promotion, you must have your Hilton HHonors Double Dip option set to miles + points, and set China Eastern as the preferred airline. You will also be entered to win 100,000 Hilton points with each stay.
Reminder–50% Bonus for Converting Starpoints to AAdvantage or Dividend Miles: If you convert your Starpoints to American Airlines AAdvantage miles you can earn a 20% bonus. If you plan it carefully, this means you can get a 50% bonus, because the 20% bonus includes the built in 25% bonus when transferring in blocks of 20,000 points. You have until 11:59 pm CT July 31, 2014 to complete the transaction in order to earn the bonus miles. Bonus miles earned in this promotion do not count toward elite status qualification. There is no minimum Starpoint transfer requirement for Platinum Preferred Guest members, Gold Preferred Guest members have a minimum transfer requirement of 1,500 Starpoints and Preferred Guest members have a minimum transfer requirement of 2,500 Starpoints. Transfer maximums are based on a combination of member Starpoints and the Starwood Preferred Guest airline transfer transaction bonus. Only one airline transfer transaction per member per 24-hour period is allowed. No registration is necessary.
Reminder: AAdvantage 10,000 Bonus Miles For Dining 10 Times: Currently American Airlines’ dining program, AAdvantage Dining, is offering 10,000 bonus miles for dining 10 times by August 15, 2014. A similar offer is available for MileagePlus dining. Remember that if you want to earn the most points or miles possible, you should link a credit card to your reward accounts that allows you to earn 2x points or more on dining, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the the no-annual-fee Barclaycard Arrival. You have to complete the following steps in order to earn the bonus miles:
- Register online for the offer.
- Dine 10 times at participating locations. Don’t forget, you must spend a minimum of $40 each time you dine out.
- Voila-10,000 bonus miles earned.
You must pay each time you dine with a credit or debit card (remember to double dip and use a points earning card) that is registered with AAdvantage Dining. You can earn this bonus only once, and the offer can’t be combined with any other AAdvantage Dining bonuses.
Up to 9,000 Club Carlson Gold Points for Avis Rentals: Avis has a promotion for Club Carlson members to earn 9,000 Gold Points for rentals of three days or more. Valid rentals must be from participating Avis airport locations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. You must enter the coupon # MUHA021 and provide your Club Carlson number at the time of reservation or at the rental counter to earn your bonus points. This offer can be used in combination with a 25% savings when you use AWD # G639300. You must rent by December 31, 2014, and the bonus is available on all car groups.
European Union Lowers Roaming Charges: If you are a frequent traveler to the EU and often run up high phone bills due to excessive roaming charges, you’re in luck! As of July 1, 2014, the EU has lowered the roaming price by more than 50%, from 45 cents per megabyte to 20 cents per megabyte. Due to this cut, it will now be cheaper to use maps, watch videos, check mail, and update social networks while traveling around the EU. In even better news, the EU is working on new rules to eliminate roaming charges altogether. Cross your fingers!
Malaysia Air Enrich Program Changes Expiration Date Policy: Malaysia Air Enrich miles will now expire 36 months after they were earned, rather than three three calendar years, effective on January 1, 2015. Enrich miles expire regardless of whether there’s account activity or not, so you unfortunately can’t extend the expiration date with a small transaction like we often do in US frequent flyer programs. Make sure to keep an eye on your Enrich miles going forward to ensure they don’t expire before you can use them.
Hilton HHonors Posts Their Mid-Year Category Changes: Hilton announced back in April that instead of yearly category adjustments, they would perform mid-season adjustments. Therefore, effective July 9, 2014, several Hilton properties are moving categories, some down and some up. Review the full list of changes here.
