Dining rewards programs are a great way to double dip on earning miles and points by using a points-earning credit card to pay for meals while also linking it to your airline or hotel program of choice and earn multiple points or miles per dollar on top of that. Currently American Airlines’ dining program, AAdvantage Dining, is offering 10,000 bonus miles for dining 10 times by August 15, 2014.
Remember that if you want to earn the most points or miles possible, you should link a credit card to your reward accounts that allows you to earn 2x points or more on dining, such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred or the the no-annual-fee Barclaycard Arrival.
You have to complete the following steps in order to earn the bonus miles:
- Register online for the offer.
- Dine 10 times at participating locations. Don’t forget, you must spend a minimum of $40 each time you dine out.
- Voila-10,000 bonus miles earned.
Technically, this offer is “targeted”, although most members of the AAdvantage Dining program should qualify. The Terms and Conditions state that the bonus offer is by invitation only for select existing AAdvantage Dining members. To qualify, you must have a dining profile (including a web login) and remain opted in to receive emails from AAdvantage Dining with a valid, deliverable email address.
You must pay each time you dine with a credit or debit card (remember to double dip and use a points earning card) that is registered with AAdvantage Dining. You can earn this bonus only once and the offer can’t be combined with any other AAdvantage Dining bonuses.
One last general tip–ensure that every single one of your debit and credit cards is registered to a participating program–if not, take a couple minutes and sign-up for some. Once your credit cards are linked to a program, you’ll automatically earn miles every time you visit a participating restaurant. I often get random deposits of miles for eating at restaurants I didn’t realize were participating dining-for-miles establishments. It’s a quick, easy, great way to earn some bonus miles without even having to think about it…especially if you dine out as much as I do!
This is actually a pretty high number of bonus miles offered for a dining program, so if you like to eat out, this is an easy way to get a good amount of miles. Especially now that it’s summer, I am out and about a lot with friends and family for drinks and food so I will make it a point to take advantage of this promotion. Bon appetit!
