Earlier this month, I wrote about how American Airlines and Cadillac had partnered to provide a tarmac-to-gate airport transfer program for elite customers with tight connections as well as how they launched a joint promotion where you could earn 7,500 AAdvantage miles for test driving a Cadillac at a participating dealership. I decided to take them up on this offer as I actually was interested in some of the new Cadillacs and lo and behold the miles posted to my account fairly quickly.

Even though the terms and conditions stated that the 7,500 bonus AAdvantage miles would take about 4-6 weeks to post to my account, mine actually posted after a few days.

While there was no specific end date when this offer launched, it appears that this promotion ended rather quickly. One possible reason could have been that Cadillac wasn’t expecting the volume of people who wanted to get in on this deal. In order to sign up, you had to either do so by phone or by online chat, and I’ve heard that wait times were over an hour on the phone, so you could imagine how many people were signing-up and coming in for test drives.

Per American’s site, this promotion is now over as it states, Thanks for your interest. The Cadillac test drive program is now closed. Per my October valuations of miles and points, I value 7,500 AAdvantage miles at around $127.50, so for those who were able to take part, this promotion really paid off. While 7,500 miles won’t get you enough miles for an award redemption, every mile counts.
