Earn Delta Skymiles for Donating to United Way
United Way is a non-profit organization that helps individuals and families achieve their human potential through education, income stability and healthy lives. If you donate over $50 to United Way, you can earn bonus Delta Skymiles in the following amounts:
- 1,000 bonus miles for a donation of $50-$124
- 2,500 bonus miles for a donation of $125-$299
- 5,000 bonus miles for a donation of $300 or more
You must enter your SkyMiles number on the donation form to qualify. The bonus offer limited to the first 5,000 SkyMiles members who donate, and you must donate by October 25, 2014 to get the bonus.
Donate to Susan G. Komen and Get 20 AAdvantage Miles Per Dollar Donated
If you make a charitable donation of $25 or more to Susan G. Komen Miles for the Cure campaign to support breast cancer research, you can earn 20 miles per dollar donated. You can earn a maximum of 60,000 miles in a twelve month period from donating. For charitable deduction purposes, each mile is valued at 2.75 cents per mile if fewer than 6,000 miles are awarded, and 2.5 cents per mile if 6,000 or more miles are awarded. Make sure to fill in your AAvantage number when donating. Donate by October 31, 2014 to get the miles.
30% Bonus on Purchased Club Carlson Points
You can earn 30% more points if you purchase between 10,000-40,000 Club Carlson Gold points. Gold Points are available for purchase in 1,000 point increments for $7.00, up to 40,000 points per account, per calendar year. Purchased points do not count towards elite status. The bonus is only available if you purchase points for yourself, not as a gift. The offer ends October 31, 2014.
25% Off Hyatt Stays in North & South America
Save 20% on two night stays and 25% on three night stays at participating Hyatt properties in the Americas. In order to get the discount, you must reserve by November 3, 2014 and stay by December 18, 2014. Make sure when searching online to enter the offer code AHSALE in the special rates section in order to find the sale prices. Note that prepayment is due at the time of reservation, and this payment is non-refundable.
EU Allows Mobile Phone Use on Airplanes
The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has approved the use of 3G and 4G services for mobile data, calls and text messages above 3,000 m (9,840 ft). This means passengers will no longer have to keep their devices in airplane mode throughout the entire flight. However, it will be up to each airline to create their own rules about voice calls and phone usage during flights.
Marriott Adds Turkish Airlines as Rewards Partner
Marriott Rewards members can now convert Marriott points to Turkish Airline miles, among many other airline partners. You can convert up to 140,000 miles at a time to 35,000 Turkish Airways Miles&Smiles. You can also convert the points to hotel and air vacation packages.
Now through October 31, 2014, Marriott Rewards is offering their members the opportunity to earn a 20% bonus when converting their points to American AAdvantage miles. Keep in mind, bonus miles can take up to seven days to post your AAdvantage account and that these miles do not count toward elite status.
