Get a 20% bonus on transfers to AeroMexico through March 6, 2015.

Normally Membership Rewards points transfer to AeroMexico Club Premier at a 1:1 ratio, so if you transfer 1,000 points, you end up with 1,000 Club Premier Miles. However, with this bonus, when you transfer 1,000 points, you’ll end up with 1,200 Club Premier MilesThere’s no need to register for the bonus, it’s automatically coded into transfers.

Here's a look at the Aeromexico award chart.
The Aeromexico award chart.

As you can see, awards between the United States and Mexico start at 56,000 Kilometros round-trip.

You can fly from Los Angeles-Mexico for 28,,000 kpn
You can fly from Los Angeles-Mexico for 28,000 Kilometros one-way.

A one-way Los Angeles-Mexico City award on AeroMexico would cost 28,000 Kilometros.

You may be better off redeeming SkyMiles to Mexico, rather than using AeroMexico miles.
You may be better off redeeming SkyMiles to Mexico rather than transferring to AeroMexico.

Even with Delta’s recent devaluations and the removal of award charts, another option is that you could book an AeroMexico award from Los Angeles to Mexico City for only 17,500 SkyMiles.

Worth It?

AeroMexico’s Club Premier mileage program favors flyers since it’s based on kilometers — you earn more flying, but spend more redeeming, meaning the best way to earn AeroMexico miles is by flying rather than transferring Membership Rewards points. Even with the 20% transfer bonus, it doesn’t really make sense to transfer to AeroMexico, since awards from the US to Mexico start at 56,000 Kilometros for a round-trip Economy redemption.
