From now until May 31, 2015, Hyatt Gold Passport is offering a 40% bonus on purchased points. This is larger than most bonuses offered by Hyatt, and makes for a pretty good buying opportunity.
- Minimum 10,000 points required to earn 40% bonus
- Purchase maximum of 55,000 points per Hyatt Gold Passport account
- Points cannot be gifted
- Purchase must be completed by 11:59 pm ET on May 31, 2015
With typical Hyatt bonus offers ranging anywhere from 20-30% in the past, this offer definitely caught my attention. The bonus isn’t targeted, so it’s available to all Hyatt Gold Passport members.
Taking into account the 40% bonus, you’d be paying 1.71 cents per point with this offer. I value Hyatt points at 1.8 cents apiece, so with this promotion you’ll actually be paying below what I consider to be face value. That means you could buy points now even without immediate plans to use them, as you’re likely to get better value whenever you do redeem. For some examples, consider this recent list of 10 Hyatt Properties that Make for Awesome Award Redemptions, some of which offer well over 3 cents per point.
As a reminder, Hyatt is also running a 20% points refund on award stays through July which can be stacked with this 40% bonus promotion, giving you an even better return if you have a Hyatt visit planned in the next few months. By combining both offers, you’d be paying roughly 1.36 cents apiece for points that you use before the end of July, which is an excellent price. Keep in mind that registration is no longer open for the 20% refund promotion, but even if you can’t take advantage of the stacked offers, I’d still consider buying points with the 40% bonus.
