TPG reader Melanie messaged me this week with a fun question about airline crews:

“What airline has the friendliest cabin crew in your opinion?”

Southwest has the nicest cabin crew among domestic airlines in my opinion.

I am going to answer this question separately for domestic and international airlines. Domestically, Southwest takes the cake. The cabin crew is generally very outgoing, and even though I didn’t fly Southwest on my trip to the Kentucky Derby earlier this year, I was sitting next to a Southwest gate when I went. The gate attendant was joking with passengers as they lined up, picking her favorite hats, and engaging them in a very sincere and genuine way that made the process entertaining. It was kind of shocking to hear an airline gate agent actually having fun on the job.

Internationally, I have had some really positive experiences, but I would have to say Aer Lingus is the best. I’m always excited to fly to Ireland (after all, I’m Irish), and I love the crew’s bright-green dresses and bubbly attitude. Just as Irish people in general are very nice, the Aer Lingus crews have been friendly, asking us all about our trips and giving great recommendations. Aer Lingus, I need to fly you again! I guess I’ll just have to head back to Ireland soon, and I’m especially excited to do so after the country’s recent vote for LGBT equality.

So, Southwest and Aer Lingus are my two favorites. Please feel free to share yours in the comments section below!
