According to the FAA’s Air Traffic Control System Command Center and many customer reports on social media, all United flights are grounded until further notice. Earlier today, there were reports of check-in agents hand-writing boarding passes, but with all flights now unable to depart, even a hand-written pass won’t do you any good.

United Grounded
United flights are grounded nationwide.

United has chimed in with an update:

Update: Passengers are reporting that United’s now back online, and the FAA has cleared its earlier alert.

While it would appear that United has resumed operations, there will likely be many delays to work through. Check your flight status before you leave for the airport, and consider rebooking travel for another day once United issues a travel waiver. If you’re having trouble getting through to a United call center in the US, consider using Skype or another VoIP service to contact a United agent overseas, where the hold time may be significantly shorter.
