This was a very big weekend for the world’s largest airline. On Friday night, the final US Airways flight departed San Francisco, landing in Philadelphia some 4 hours, 45 minutes later. Naturally, this was one of the most anticipated final flights in recent history, and many frequent flyers did their best to join the party.
Officially, the last leg from SFO to PHL was the flight to be on, but nostalgic passengers also settled for other segments with the same flight number as well. US Airways flight 1939 began its Friday in Philadelphia, departing for Charlotte, North Carolina. The plane then journeyed on to Phoenix before heading to San Francisco and finally making its way back to Philly.
If you didn’t have a chance to join AA for the historic journey, you can still experience the festivities via YouTube. Check out the video above to follow flight 1939 from beginning to end.
