Update: SPG Take Two is now SPG Take Four. In that there are now four opportunities to earn extra points on certain stays. The new opps include 2,500 bonus points when you stay 15 total nights by April 30, plus an additional 7,500 points after you stay 25 nights within the same period. Here’s the breakdown from Starwood:

With a few exceptions, Starwood often has one promotion or another running at all times, giving SPG members “in the know” an opportunity to boost their account balance through regular stay activity. Starwood just announced its promo for the first quarter of 2016, and it looks very similar to SPG’s offering for fall 2015.

This time around, Starwood is giving you an opportunity to earn double Starpoints on stays of two or more nights at any property that participates in the SPG program. Additionally, you can earn an additional 250 bonus Starpoints at select hotels in key destinations. Stays may take place between January 11 and April 30, 2016.

Note that the double points are added to base earnings, so you’ll earn a minimum of four points per dollar instead of the regular two. Elite members will earn additional Starpoints, but those points will not be doubled. You must register for the promotion by midnight on April 10, 2016.

Overall, this isn’t the most exciting promotion, but if you have a Starwood stay planned (or even if you don’t), there isn’t any downside to registering. You can also earn many more Starpoints through Amex’s credit card offers — currently, you can earn 25,000 points after spending $3,000 in the first three months with the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express.
