They say “A picture is worth a thousand words,” but how much is a video worth? Too many to count. That’s why I’m so excited to announce the newest feature of TPG – TPGtv.

Since I launched the blog in 2010, I’ve seen the site, our readership and content explode – and I’ve been so happy to take you all along with me for the ride. Over the past five and a half years, we’ve had nearly 8,000 blog posts, ranging from far-off destination posts to everything you need to know about club lounges, but frankly, sometimes it’s just more enjoyable to watch a video. This past year, we’ve more than doubled our readership and want to continue bringing you, the reader, new and exciting content.

TPGtv will allow us to do just that. I love traveling and I love giving tips – the backbone of why I started the blog to begin with. So why not combine the two into a web series where I can actually show you my journey from the moment I click to confirm a booking to when I’m on my trip in a new location. We’ll be filming the whole time and each journey will be featured in an episode of TPGtv.

My mantra has always been that you can better enjoy and explore destinations when you save money on flights and hotels by using points and miles – and what better way to connect the dots from booking to the end product than to show you what’s truly possible with award travel. As with my Residence flight last month — from the full review to Thanksgiving dinner — having my experience delivered through video really helps you get more of a feel for what a trip is like.

Here’s how it’ll work: On a regular basis, a new episode of TPGtv will be uploaded to our YouTube channel, You can follow our channel right now to get alerts whenever we upload new content – including new TPGtv episodes. As a little teaser for the first episode – back in October I went on, quite literally, the trip of a lifetime. I traveled to South Africa, Ghana and Rwanda, and I can’t stress how incredible the trip was — I can’t wait to share it all with you in 2016. And as I write this from Vietnam (where we’re shooting several episodes), we’ve got many more incredible journeys in store for you to watch on TPGtv — including the Sundance Film Festival, Grand Cayman and many more.

I never thought I would be able to get up close with gorillas in Rwanda, but I can't wait to share the experience with you.

TPGtv will retain the same ethics as TPG – we’re paying for everything ourselves. The flights, the hotels, the tours, the food – everything. We’re working closely with the airlines because of the complexities and security concerns of filming in airports and on planes – getting the approvals can be an exhausting endeavor, and we certainly don’t want to end up risking a plane being diverted. But, our experiences will be authentic and produced on our own terms.

At the end of the day, this is not only about me going on trips and producing videos, but it’s about giving you, the reader, what you want to see. That being said, I want to hear your suggestions and recommendations. Where do you want to see me go? Do you have a favorite destination or an incredible story? Tell me — I’m always looking for stories and recommendations of where to go next. Email, tweet me or send me a message on Instagram or Facebook. I’d love to hear from you! Until then, the countdown is on for the official launch of TPGtv on February 1, 2016!
