Airfare deals are typically only available on limited dates. We recommend that you use Google Flights to find dates to fly, then book through an online travel agency, such as Orbitz, which allows you to cancel flights without penalty by 11pm Eastern Time within one day of booking. Remember: Fares may disappear quickly, so book right away and take advantage of Orbitz’s courtesy cancellation if you’re unable to travel. Additionally, keep in mind that discounted partner fares may not earn miles with US-based carriers.
Alaska Airlines announced back in July that it was adding three nonstop flights from Newark to the West Coast, and we’ve now come across some great intro fares for these new routes. You can fly from Newark (EWR) to San Diego (SAN), San Jose (SJC), and Portland (PDX) from just $236 round-trip in economy. These fares look to be valid for departures from November through early December, and then again from January through March 2017.
United has matched the fares on Newark to Portland on some dates, as it is now competing with Alaska after the FAA eased slot restrictions in Newark, creating more competition at the NYC-area airport.
