After spending a few days seeing the sights in Tokyo and checking out cherry blossoms in Osaka, it was finally time to head home. But I wasn’t just going to take any flight back to the states. I would be flying home in first class aboard ANA’s Star Wars 777-300ER jet from Haneda (HND) to Los Angeles (LAX). The best part: it would only cost me 100,000 ANA miles and $230 in taxes and fees.
This was no ordinary ANA flight. Everything from the livery — painted like the droid character, BB-8, from “The Force Awakens,” — to the seat covers was decked out in true Star Wars fashion. They even gave out little Yoda stuffed animals and Darth Vader helmets filled with candy!
Overall, I really enjoyed ANA’s first-class product. It was nice to get a Samsonite amenity kit stocked with products from Shiseido’s The Ginza line as well as pajamas that actually fit me. The ANA Suites weren’t bad either, with a decent level of privacy and lie-flat seats, although the bed was just a tad too small for my 6’7″ frame. It’s worth noting that only light bites were served on this route due to the flight’s overnight schedule, so plan accordingly. Check out the video below for an inside look at my first-class experience on ANA’s Star Wars plane. And may the force be with you!
