The best way to find the right fares and dates is by heading straight to the Ryanair website and using its calendar which displays prices across entire weeks.

August is one of the most popular months of the year for travel from the UK to Europe, and as a result, flights can be extremely expensive. Some cities like Madrid (MAD) are extremely hot during this month but if you like the idea of a city break without the heatwave, consider the beautiful Danish capital of Copenhagen (CPH). As it is further north than some of the hottest parts of the continent you can expect much more pleasant weather. The friendly, relaxed Danes will be out and about enjoying the sunshine – don’t miss the stunningly beautiful colourful buildings of Nyhavn harbour and the iconic Carlsberg brewery tour is highly recommended, even if you’re not a huge beer drinker.

Right now there are incredibly low fares to Copenhagen from London’s Southend (SEN) Airport. While you may not have used Southend Airport before it is technically one of the Greater London area airports and its small size makes it much easier to navigate than its bigger neighbours like Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW). The time you save breezing through this easy airport will compensate for the slightly longer journey time to the airport.

These prices are often seen during the colder winter months but are almost unheard of during summer especially August school holidays. What is even more unbelievable is that these prices are even available for the August Bank Holiday weekend, so if you don’t have any plans for the last big holiday of summer, consider this gem of a city.

The fares only include a small personal item as carry-on luggage. If you’re clever with your packing, you can most certainly make do without having to pay extra for a suitcase. Or, if you’re travelling in a group, you could always check in one bag between you all and split the extra cost. There are various departures dates available in August with Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays the best days to check for the lowest prices.

These prices will not be around for long, so don’t hang around too long before making your decision.
