Thailand is up there as one of the most popular tourist destinations from the UK, and prices can often reflect that in our winter time when we’re in need of a bit of sun. Air China is offering up an alternative via Chengdu, rather than the usual routes via Gulf carriers.

There’s a 14-hour layover in Chengdu, China, on the outbound leg — perfect for fitting in a trip to see the pandas or just spending the day soaking up some Chinese culture and feasting on the country’s famous cuisine. There is no need to worry about a visa, as the Chinese government has introduced a 72-hour transit visa for citizens of certain countries.
