The transatlantic competition is heating up as both British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are offering unmissable return flights across the Atlantic to Boston (BOS) and New York (JFK) in premium economy from as little as £557 — similar to the usual cost of an economy ticket.

We recently reviewed Virgin Atlantic’s premium economy product on the London (LHR) to New York (JFK) route on the airline’s older A330 aircraft. The route will soon see the introduction of the airline’s brand new A350 aircraft — operating four times daily. Make sure when you book that the aircraft type displayed is A350/A351 to experience the modern, sustainable aircraft as well as new premium economy cabin complete with new sustainable goodie bags.

Head to Virgin’s website to book.

As part of our British Airways all-cabin review, we gave our thoughts on British Airways’ World Traveler Plus (premium economy) also. The airline’s World Traveler Plus (WTP) amenity kits and blankets have been significantly upgraded since this review, as well as some other improvements to the service and food and drinks offering. We put together this handy guide to help you decide which aircraft and seat would be best when picking your WTP flight. You can also upgrade to Club World for 24,000 Avios on off-peak dates or 20,000 Avios on peak dates.

Head to BA’s website to book.
