From the turn of the new year, you can fly direct to either San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX) from £305 return. We often see fares to the East Coast for around the £300 mark or less, but fares this low to the West Coast are pretty rare — especially with full-service carriers like British Airways. Californian weather is great in the beginning of the year — nowhere near as scorching hot as the summer months but a lot warmer than the UK in the depths of winter. If you like to escape the winter gloom, then California could be your perfect cure for the winter blues.

The fares are available from January to April 2020. To book, head to Google Flights and select British Airways as the airline of choice. Next, set the departure airport as London (LHR) and the arrival destination as the city of your choice — Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO). Then, all you need to do is scroll through the calendar until you find a suitable set of dates with the right price for you. Finally, head to the British Airways website to complete your booking.
