Thanks to British Airways cheapest “economy basic” fares, there are flights currently on sale to the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca from £39 return from Gatwick. There are only a few dates left at that price so they will probably sell out fast. Especially considering return fares, even in winter, usually hover at around £190! The flight times are also great, departing London mid-afternoon and leaving Palma at a sociable 11am.

These fares are British Airways’ lowest, which mean that checking in a bag and selecting your seat will cost you extra. We have several tips for packing that might be useful if you want to try flying with hand luggage only.

To book, head to Google Flights and set the departure airport as Gatwick and the arrival airport as Palma (PMI). Next, set the airline to British Airways and scroll through the calendar to find the cheapest dates to fly, which are highlighted in green. Once you’ve got the flights you want, head to the British Airways website to make sure you earn your Avios and are ATOL-protected.
