Earning points and miles isn’t done just by credit card sign-up bonuses and flying. You can also take advantage of limited-time offers with airlines, such as those currently available through the British Airways Executive Club. These offers allow you to earn bonus Avios for making purchases with merchants you’d otherwise be making. So, you’re making your purchase and being rewarded — what’s not to like?
Signing up for the Executive Club is easy, and the sooner you do it, the sooner you’ll be able to make the most of the following offers. Don’t forget, if you use any of your points-earning earning credit cards for the purchases you will earn more.
You must be over the age of 18 and a member of the British Airways Executive Club to be eligible for any of these promotions. For further details, Full terms and conditions can be found for each of the offers on the British Airways Executive Club offers page.
Hotels and cruises
Kaligo has over 550,000 properties to choose from world wide meaning there is lots of opportunity to earn some serious Avios through its partnership with BA. Kaligo usually offers between 5-20 base Avios per booking, and for this particular offer this will be doubled meaning you can earn up to 40 Avios per £1!
Taking New York as an example, a three night stay in a four star hotel for £575 would earn you a whopping 23,000 Avios. TPG values this as £253.
Make sure to book by 31 December and stay by June 2020 to be eligible for the offer. Bare in mind that these Avios won’t be transferred into your account until within four to six weeks after staying in the hotel.
Cruise 118 has partnerships with all major cruise line companies including Crystal Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean International and Seabourn. You can now earn up to 3 Avios per £1 spent when booking the cruise of a lifetime.
For example, a booking of £9329 for a 21-night Miami to Dakar cruise (including flights) would earn you a staggering 27,987 Avios per person which TPG U.K. currently values at £308!
To be eligible for the bonus Avios, cruises must be booked through the dedicated customer service line on 0808 223 8900. BA Executive accounts should be credited the Avios within six weeks of departure date.
30% bonus on purchased Avios
Between 19 December and 30 January, British Airways is offering a 30% bonus on all Avios purchased or gifted. But, it might not be as good a deal as it first sounds.
For £31, you can purchase 1,000 Avios and get 300 extra. That works out at 1,300 Avios for a total of £31, putting the cost of each Avios at 2.3p. Avios are worth 1.1 as per our current valuations, which means you would be still paying more than twice what the Avios are actually worth — this is not a good deal.
If you still want to go ahead and gift Avios, the recipient must be a British Airways Executive Club Member and have at least one Avios in their account. The bonus Avios will not count towards your promotional limit of 200,000 Avios. If you change your mind, the purchased Avios can be refunded within 14 days of purchasing so long as they have not been used.
Exclusive Reward Flight Access
It’s not always easy to find a reward flight on the dates you want to travel – even with the help of Expert Flyer – we still haven’t had the power to magic extra availability out of thin air. Until now. British Airways is rewarding its Executive Club members with the chance to convert ‘any’ seat into an Avios reward seat. By ‘any’, there is a complex list of what will and will not be included in the offer which can be found here under the “Registration and promotion details” section.

Being eligible is easy, all you need to do is login to your BAEC account and register. The snag? Four return flights in either First or Club World must be booked and flown by 12 February 2020. Suddenly this appears to be a way of making BAEC members spend as many Avios as fast as possible.
The Wine Flyer
Uncork a tipsy 2,000 Avios for your first order with The Wine Flyer of a case of 12 wines before 30 September. If you’ve previously made an order with The Wine Flyer, fear not, you will still receive 250 Avios for one purchase during this promotion. You will receive six bottles of red, five whites and one rose.
12 bottles of wine for £70 earns you a total of 2,000 Avios, which TPG UK values at £22.
Only one case of wine per household is allowed as part of this offer, and addresses must be within the UK.
Sign yourself up online for a subscription of The Economist before 31 January to make the most of this promotion. You will be awarded 18,000 Avios for a print and digital subscription or 15,000 for signing up to one or the other.
TPG UK’s currently values 18,000 Avios at £198 and 15,000 Avios at £165.
The offer is available only to new subscribers.
Collect avios for sharing your thoughts
British Airways has teamed up with e-Rewards.co.uk meaning that from now, all those who convert their eRewards Bonus Points to Avios will be rewarded with a 600 Avios bonus.
600 Avios for a few clicks? That might only amount to a cash value of £6.60 but it’s still more Avios to add into your pot and for free!
Once Opinion Points have been converted into Avios, the process cannot be reversed. It may take up to 35 days for the bonus Avios to be credited to members’ accounts.
The featured offers are just some of the ways that you can top up your Avios account in addition to flying and credit card spend. Remember to always check airline online shopping portals before you make any of your usual online or even highstreet purchases as you can earn up to 18 Avios per £1 spent through the Executive Club eStore.
