Earning points and miles isn’t done just by credit card sign-up bonuses and flying. You can also take advantage of limited-time offers with airlines, such as those currently available through the British Airways Executive Club. These offers allow you to earn bonus Avios for making purchases with merchants you’d otherwise be making. So, you’re making your purchase and being rewarded — what’s not to like?
Signing up for the Executive Club is easy, and the sooner you do it, the sooner you’ll be able to make the most of the following offers. Don’t forget, if you use any of your points-earning earning credit cards for the purchases you will earn more.
You must be over the age of 18 and a member of the British Airways Executive Club to be eligible for any of these promotions. For further details, Full terms and conditions can be found for each of the offers on the British Airways Executive Club offers page.
Hotels and car hire bookings
British Airways is currently offering a 10% discount on all Avios bookings on hotels and car hires. Click here to check out the offers.
For example, for a three-night booking at the Paramount Times Square in New York, you would pay 35,250 Avios per night instead of 38,934 — saving a total of 11,052 Avios. That’s enough for a Reward Flight Saver to somewhere in Europe.
All bookings must be made by 24 September to be able to benefit from the 10% discount.
30% bonus on purchased Avios
British Airways is offering a 30% bonus on all Avios purchased before 24 September. But, it might not be as good a deal as it first sounds.
For £31, you can purchase 1,000 Avios and get 300 extra. That works out at 1,300 Avios for a total of £31, putting the cost of each Avios at 2.3p. Avios are worth 1.1 as per our current valuations, which means you would be still paying more than twice what the Avios are actually worth — this is not a good deal.
If you still want to go ahead and gift Avios, the recipient must be a British Airways Executive Club Member and have at least one Avios in their account. The bonus Avios will not count towards your promotional limit of 200,000 Avios. If you change your mind, the purchased Avios can be refunded within 14 days of purchasing so long as they have not been used.
The Langham hotels
If you’ve never stayed at The Langham and fancy treating yourself this summer, now might be the time. As long as you book either of the hotel’s “Picnic Staycation” or “Pyjama Party” packages and stay before 30 September, you will be eligible to collect up to 3,000 Avios per stay.
The value of the maximum amount of 3,000 Avios to be earned per stay through this promotion is £33 according to TPG UK’s most recent valuations.
Members must also enroll with The Langham Hotels and Resorts and use the code BAWBONUS when making the booking. There is no restriction to the number of stays during the promotional period. The offer applies to one standard guest room per stay based on double occupancy.
Participating properties include London in Europe; Chicago, New York Fifth Avenue and Huntington, Pasadena in the USA; Melbourne and Sydney in Australia; and Haikou, Hefei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Haining, Ningbo and Xiamen in China.
The Wine Flyer
Uncork a tipsy 2,000 Avios for your first order with The Wine Flyer of a case of 12 wines before 30 September. If you’ve previously made an order with The Wine Flyer, fear not, you will still receive 250 Avios for one purchase during this promotion. You will receive six bottles of red, five whites and one rose.
12 bottles of wine for £70 earns you a total of 2,000 Avios, which TPG UK values at £22.
Only one case of wine per household is allowed as part of this offer, and addresses must be within the UK.
Sign yourself up online for a subscription of The Economist before 30 September to make the most of this promotion. You will be awarded 18,000 Avios for a print and digital subscription or 15,000 for signing up to one or the other.
TPG UK’s currently values 18,000 Avios at £198 and 15,000 Avios at £165.
The offer is available only to new subscribers.
British Airways has teamed up with Cruise118 to give you the opportunity to earn 3 Avios per every £1 spent with participating cruise liines.
Most Avios credit cards available in the UK only earn you 1 Avios per pound spent, so this promotion of 3 per pound is a marked improvement. For example, if you spend £1,800 on a cruise, you’ll earn 5,400 bonus Avios, which are worth £59 based on TPG UK’s most recent valuations.
The rates for cruises available through Cruise118 may differ from regular bookings. No Tier Points will be earned by the booking.
Sky TV and broadband superfast
If you’re in the market for a new TV and Internet provider, then you might want to consider Sky’s TV and Broadband Superfast for £42 per month and benefit from a 5,000-Avios boost to put towards your next redemption. The offer also applies to existing members.
According to TPG UK’s most recent valuations, 5,000 Avios are worth £55.
The offer applies to the purchasing of a Triple Play Sky subscription for 18 months. You will need to register a Sky ID and download the My Sky app to receive an email with a unique code required to complete the purchase. Within 40 days of the purchase, an email will be sent providing an electronic voucher code to redeem the Avios thought aviosvouchers.com. Charges also apply for the set-up and installation of your new Sky package.
The featured offers are just some of the ways that you can top up your Avios account in addition to flying and credit card spend. Remember to always check airline online shopping portals before you make any of your usual online or even highstreet purchases as you can earn up to 12 Avios per £1 spent through the Executive Club eStore.
