Many small to medium businesses have employees who make regular business purchases. These businesses need simple solutions to manage this process both to stay on top of the cashflow of the business and provide straightforward accounting and operational processes, to allow both the employees and business owner to do their jobs effectively and the business to operate smoothly.

The Business Platinum Card from American Express UK has a unique system to reward both employer and employees as well as a simple payment solution for businesses. Did you know you can have up to 100 charge cards with just one Business Platinum account and annual fee?

The card provides a primary Platinum card and account to the business owner/manager that comes with a huge list of features, especially if they travel for work or pleasure including travel insurance, purchase protections, lounge access and various elite hotel and car hire statuses. It also comes with one supplementary Platinum charge card for free. This supplementary card comes with all the benefits provided to the primary cardholder. If you want a second supplementary card (i.e. three cards overall), there is a charge of £295 per year for the second Platinum supplementary card.

But where business is more than three people, there is a generous offer for plenty more of your employees. At no extra charge, you can issue up to 98 supplementary Gold business charge cards. These can be given to each of your employees for their expected business spending, but they are all linked to the one account, so all charges are recorded (and payable by) the primary cardholder. All of these cards also earn Membership Rewards points for each purchase at a rate of 1 point per ordinary £1 spent all of which are awarded to the primary cardholder.

You do not need to ensure each employee remembers the same single card details to make these purchases in order to improve cashflow and earn rewards that automatically collect in the same place – each employee can have their own individual card they can take with them at all times. You can at any stage review in one central account how, where and when each gold card holder is making purchases on the business account in real time – you don’t need to wait for them to submit an expense report at the end of each month.

These up to 98 gold cards also provide a number of benefits to each card holder  which combined can potentially provide hundreds of pounds value to each employee, including:

  • Travel Accident/Business Travel Accident Cover
  • Travel Inconvenience Cover
  • Medical Expenses and Repatriation Cover
  • Baggage, Money and Documentation Cover
  • Retail Insurance – Purchase & Refund Protection
  • Online Fraud Protection

So when your employees are using the card they are protected for various situations, especially if they are travelling for business at no extra charge to you. These benefits are usually only found in cards that charge an annual fee per card, so to provide these benefits for up to 98 employees at no extra cost is a valuable perk.
