Avios is arguably the most important points currency for UK residents. That’s because it’s the currency used by the loyalty programmes British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus and Aer Lingus AerClub. So, if you have a frequent flyer account with these airlines, you’ll be earning and redeeming Avios.

The great news is that you’re not restricted to these three airlines to redeem Avios. There’s a huge range of airlines to choose from, depending from which of the three programmes you are using your Avios. (And hint: Some of them have much better products than BA!)

The list isn’t exactly the same for each of the three programmes, so let’s dive in.

Oneworld Alliance

British Airways is a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, which is a global partnnership made up of 13 airlines. Oneworld is one of the ‘Big 3’ alliances, with the other two being the Star Alliance and SkyTeam.

Assuming there’s award availability, you can use your Avios from your British Airways or Iberia accounts for flights on Oneworld airlines. They include:

With the exception of S7 Airlines, all of these airlines fly to the UK, so you have plenty of choices. Click on any of the airlines above to read some reviews of their products, in particular Qatar Airways’ amazing QSuite product, which blows British Airways Club World out of the water.

Fiji Airways is what is called a ‘Oneworld Connect’ member, which provides some of the benefits of a Oneworld membership but not all. Fortunately, if you have Avios in your British Airways Executive Club account, you can redeem them for flights with Fiji Airways.

Note that Fiji Airways does not fly to Europe, but does fly to Los Angeles. Avios in the Iberia Plus or Aer Lingus AerClub programme must be moved to Executive Club before they can be used for Fiji Airways flights.

Other Partner Airlines

While most people would think of British Airways as the default programme using Avios, it is also the currency of Iberia, and Aer Lingus. Read our complete guide to Avios to understand why these different programmes use the same points currency, and how you can move Avios between the programmes.

In addition to the Oneworld partners listed above, you can also use Avios from British Airways Executive Club to redeem for flights on:

Avios in Iberia Plus can be redeemed for Avianca, LEVEL, Royal Air Maroc and Vueling flights in addition to the Oneworld partners listed above. Royal Air Maroc will be joining the Oneworld alliance in 2020.

Avios in your Aer Lingus AerClub account can be redeemed for flights on British Airways, Iberia, Flybe and low-cost European airline Vueling.

While not a Oneworld member, Iberia and British Airways partner with Air Italy, so you can also use your Avios from these accounts on Air Italy flights.
