American Express wants its cardholders to get to booking travel. And to do that, it’s enticing select cardholders with savings on their bookings.

The issuer has released a new Amex Offer for select cardholders to get up to £50 in cashback on new bookings, as first reported by Head for Points. With the offer, targeted cardholders can get £50 back after they spend £200 or more with American Express Travel.

Members of the TPG U.K. team had the offer available on both the Preferred Rewards Gold Card from American Express and The Platinum Card from American Express. On both the cards, the offer was the same: get £50 back after spending £200 with Amex Travel by 31 May 2021.

The offer is only available to the first 30,000 cardmembers who save the offer to their eligible card — so you’ll want to act sooner than later if you’re interested. The cashback offer is valid on pre-paid hotel, flight and car hire bookings made online at Amex Travel. Cruises, Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts and The Hotel Collection bookings are not eligible.

Keep in mind that if you book a hotel stay via Amex Travel, the hotels count it as a third-party online travel agency booking. In other words, you won’t get all of the benefits if you have elite status with that chain, and nor will you earn points for your stay.

Ultimately, this is a nice offer from American Express in order to entice cardholders to book trips once again. With international travel set to resume from 17 May at the earliest, it could be a good time to get booking. Flights booked through Amex Travel will count towards the minimum £200 in spend and you’ll still earn elite-qualifying credits on those flights.

To see if you’ve been targeted for this offer, log in to your American Express account. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “View All” when you get to the Amex Offers section. Once you’ve found this Offer — or any other Offer that piques your interest — click “Save to Card” and be sure to use that card on your Amex Travel purchase.
