If you’re planning on making any purchases through the month of August, British Airways is incentivising you to do it through its eStore. Through 31 August, you’ll earn 200 bonus Avios for each purchase of at least £120.

The 200 bonus Avios offer appears to have no limit. In other words, you can make as many purchases of more than £120 through the month of August and receive the bonus Avios. If you’re planning on making several purchases during the promotion period, you could net a good number of Avios.

Based on TPG’s most recent valuations, the 200 bonus Avios are worth about £2. While it may not seem like much, the 200 bonus Avios are in addition to those you’ll earn per pound spent on the purchase. For example, if you make a £150 purchase with Selfridges, you’ll get 1,800 Avios plus the 200 bonus Avios as part of this promotion. In total, the 2,000 Avios you’d earn from the purchase are worth £22 — not a bad return on your purchase.

According to the terms of the promotion, a qualifying £120 transaction can’t include costs for shipping, handling and VAT. The 200 bonus Avios will be credited to your Executive Club account in a separate transaction to the standard Avios you’ll earn per pound spent on the purchase.

As always, TPG recommends making any online purchases through an airline’s shopping portal. By doing so, you’ll earn valuable points and miles for making purchases you were otherwise planning on making. Not using a shopping portal is essentially leaving cash on the table in the form of points and miles. Plus, by using a rewards-earning credit card, you’ll earn points for each pound spent.
