Good news: British Airways lowering Tier Point requirements and extending vouchers for some members

British Airways has announced measures to assist Executive Club members in maintaining their elite status and using their travel vouchers during times of reduced travel, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
For those members with status renewal dates in April, May and June, the airline is reducing the number of Tier Points members will need to earn to requalify for another year of status by 30%. This means those members will only have to earn the following Tier Points in order to maintain their status or move to a higher status level:
- Bronze: 210 Tier Points (instead of the normal 300)
- Silver: 420 Tier Points (instead of the normal 600)
- Gold: 1,050 Tier Points (instead of the normal 1,500)
- Gold Guest List: 3,500 Tier Points (instead of the normal 5,000, with 30% reductions required to earn additional Gold Guest List benefits)
This means that if you were a Silver status member trying to reach Gold status and you had earned at least 1,050 Tier Points, if your requalification date was in April, May or June, you would be upgraded to Gold status without reaching the usual 1,500 Tier Points, rather than staying at the Silver level.
Executive Club members whose status years expire in April have already been contacted. British Airways said it will be contacting members whose membership years expire in May and June soon.
As previously reported by TPG, all valid 2-4-1 Companion Vouchers will be extended by a period of six months, whether they have been redeemed or not. British Airways has also advised that until 30 June 2020, this will also apply to newly earned Companion Vouchers.
