In total, BA will add twice-weekly routes to Faro (FAO) from both Manchester (MAN) and Edinburgh (EDI) for the summer travel season.
The additional flights were announced in order to meet the anticipated demand as U.K. travellers look to plan their summer getaways after more than a year of the pandemic.
The airline’s short-haul subsidiary BA CityFlyer will operate the new routes to Faro. The Edinburgh to Faro weekend flights debut on 29 May and as of now, will run until 20 June. Those flights will operate on Saturdays and Sundays using an Embraer E190 short-haul jet. Here is the schedule for those direct flights:
- BA2341 Edinburgh (EDI) 8:00 a.m. Departure ⇒ Faro (FAO) 11:20 a.m. Arrival
- BA2340 Faro (FAO) 12:05 p.m. Departure ⇒ Edinburgh (EDI) 3:25 p.m. Arrival
The Manchester-to-Faro flights are also set to begin in late May, operating on Saturdays and using an Airbus A319 aircraft. These flights are not yet bookable on BA.com as of time of publication.
The carrier also revealed on Friday that its previously announced additional flights to Gibraltar (GIB) from London City Airport (LCY) will be moved forward to now begin on 11 June. The move to bring the first flight forward was made given the expectation that Gibraltar will also be exempt from quarantine when international travel opens up 17 May under the traffic light system.
The new Gibraltar routes from London City are twice weekly, Mondays and Fridays, with the schedule as follows:
- BA3289 London City (LCY) 1:15 p.m. Departure ⇒ Gibraltar (GIB) 5:10 p.m. Arrival
- BA3290 Gibraltar (GIB) 5:55 p.m. Departure ⇒ London City (LCY) 7:50 p.m. Arrival
Those flights will also use the Embraer E190 aircraft. The Gibraltar-London City routes are available for booking now on the British Airways site.
