Early Christmas presents are the best — especially when they’re free. American Express is targeting cardholders of the British Airways American Express Credit Card and the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Credit Card with a special offer to reward you for your spending on the card.

Unlike the usual process for Amex Offers, there is no need to save the offer to the card as targeted cardholders will be auto-enrolled. If you haven’t received an email letting you know about it, try logging on to your online account where you’ll see the following notice if you’re eligible:

To make sure you’re maximising your points and miles earning potential, make sure to check what offers are available on shopping portals before you make a purchase online or in-store — a great opportunity to double-dip on your earnings.

For example, let’s take Apple’s latest must-have item — the AirPods Pro, which currently retail at £249. Buying them through the British Airways eStore will currently earn you 2,241 Avios at a rate of 9 Avios per £1 spent — worth £25 based on TPG U.K.’s most recent valuations. On top of that, by using your eligible British Airways American Express card to make the purchase, will earn you the usual 249 Avios (at the standard rate of 1 Avios per £1) and then you’ll earn a bonus of 62 Avios. That’s a total of a whopping 2,552 Avios for one purchase — worth £28 based on our valuations.

There are no terms and conditions with this offer. All you have to do is make sure you’re spending with your eligible British Airways cobranded American Express card. The offer expires on 27 December — perfect for those Boxing Day sales on 26 December.
