It’s already the middle of June, and with that, Father’s Day is this coming Sunday. It’s not too late to get Dad the perfect gift and earn yourself some extra miles in the process with some retailers offering as many as 20 Avios per £1 spent.

Online shopping portals are one of the best ways to earn extra miles for purchases you were otherwise planning on making. And this Father’s Day is a perfect time to do just that with both BA and Virgin’s shopping portals offering higher-than-usual rates at outlets and retailers that have perfect gifts for dads and grandads.

The highest earning potential (20 Avios per pound spent) come from retailers such as grüum, Joe & Seph’s and Mont Blanc.

Here is a selection of some featured retailers.

Church’s

BA eStore earning: 16 Avios per £1
Virgin Shops Away earning: 13 miles per £1

It might be a stereotype, but dads can be often way off the mark when it comes to fashion — especially shoes. It just so happens that one of the highest miles-earning retailers at the moment is high-end footwear brand Church’s. At around £450 for a pair of shoes or loafers, there’s a huge Avios or Flying Club miles earning potential.

A pair of £450 loafers bought through the BA eStore would earn you a whopping 7,200 Avios. With one-way prices via a Reward Flight Saver varying from 6,750 Avios + £6.50 to 2,200 Avios + £42.50, that’s enough Avios for a return trip to Europe.

Based on TPG U.K.’s most recent valuations, the 7,200 Avios you would earn with that purchase are worth £79.

Master of Malt

BA eStore earning: 8 Avios per £1
Virgin Shops Away earning: 6 miles per £1

If your dad likes a drink or two, then the chances are Masters of Malt will have his favourite tipple in stock. The online alcohol retailer has an amazing selection of whiskies, rums and gins, and each day the site has a selection of daily offers. Today’s includes a make-your-own Negroni kit reduced from £64 to £45. The site is offering delivery in time for Sunday as well as free delivery for orders over £100.

For a £45.35 purchase, you would walk away with 346 Avios. Based on TPG U.K.’s most recent valuations, those Avios are worth about £4.

NotOnTheHighStreet

BA eStore earning: 8 Avios per £1
Virgin Shops Away earning: 6 miles per £1

For something a little more personal, NotOnTheHighStreet has a wide range of gifts suitable for fathers and grandfathers of all ages. Gift ideas are handily arranged into hobby categories, full of inspiration for your green-fingered grandad or your football-mad dad.

Delivery time varies with each seller, and can often take a little while longer when personalising a gift, so make sure to double and triple check the delivery date before confirming your order.
