One way car rentals can be good for everyone. Companies like Avis are able to use their customers to transport their vehicles to the places they need to be, and punters get a rental on the cheap, avoiding potentially extortionate train fares and limited domestic flight routes.

Avis has stepped up its offering with huge discounts, and one-way rentals are now available for as little as £9.98.

If you’re new to using points and miles, check out our Beginner’s Guide to best maximise your travel.

This could be the perfect way for you to get home for Christmas, or get you and your family to the airport in Manchester or London for your winter getaway for an absolute steal.

Here are the rules you need to pay attention to:

  • Offer is bookable from now until 22 December 2019
  • Offer is valid for rental pick-ups between 16 December and 23 December 2019
  • Cars can be collected from a wide selection of U.K. Avis offices including various regional airports. (Airports: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster Sheffield, East Midlands, Exeter, Humberside and Norwich) (Cities: Ashford, Aylesbury, Basingstoke, Birmingham City Centre, Bournemouth, Bracknell, Brighton, Bristol Central, Birmingham NEC, Bristol North, Cardiff, Coventry, Crawley, Croydon, Dartford, Dover, Enfield, Gloucester, Harlow, Hull City Centre, Ipswich, Leeds, Leicester, Lincoln, Liverpool, Llandudno Junction, Luton, Maidstone, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Oxford, Peterborough, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Reading, Sheffield, Sheffield Train Station, Southampton, Southend, Staines, Swansea, Swindon, Taunton, Truro, Watford, Worcester, York, York Railway Station)
  • Cars can be dropped off at Manchester Airport and various London locations (Gatwick, Heathrow, London City Airport and Manchester Airport) (Stations: Battersea, Euston, St Pancras, Victoria, Waterloo and Westfield Shepherd’s Bush)
  • The maximum length of rental is one day

I had a play around and didn’t find it too difficult to find availability, such as this journey from Cardiff City Centre to London Heathrow (LHR) for £9.98 on 17 December.
