Many travellers seem to be heading for Airbnb this summer. Private rentals often provide more space than a hotel and are generally far easier for practising social distancing. That’s good news for members of the British Airways Executive Club as, thanks to a partnership with Airbnb, you can earn up to 6 Avios per £1 spent on your future Airbnb bookings.

It’s really simple to do and only requires a few extra clicks.

First, click here, and you’ll be taken to a page that prompts you to add your BA Executive Club number. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be taken straight to Airbnb’s site to complete your booking.

If you’ve used Airbnb before, you’ll be awarded 2 Avios per £1 spent. However, if it’s your first time using the holiday home rental website, then you’ll earn a total of 6 Avios per £1 spend as a welcome bonus.

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples to see how many Avios could be up for grabs.

Cornwall is one of the most popular places for staycationers in the U.K. this year, and it’s not surprising why. Booking this cute townhouse in Falmouth for six people for five nights would come to a total of £1,082 earning, you 2,164 Avios if you’ve used Airbnb before and 6,492 Avios if it’s your first time.

As per TPG’s current valuations of 1.1p per Avios, the Avios would be worth £24 and £71, respectively.

Let’s go a little further afield. A week in September staying in Hvar, Croatia, at this lovely spot will cost a total of £959. That’s 1,918 Avios if you’re a repeat Airbnb guest and 5,754 if you’re a newbie. Once again, using the TPG U.K. valuation of 1.1p per Avios, the value of each sum earned through this stay is £21 and £63, respectively.

What do those amounts of Avios mean in terms of flights? The 5,754 Avios earned through the Hvar stay could get you a one-way flight to most destinations in Europe with a BA Reward Flight Saver. Not bad considering you’re getting the Avios for free as a bonus on top of your Airbnb booking.

Keep in mind, too, that you could earn even more rewards. If you make the Airbnb booking with a rewards-earning credit card, you will be earning points and miles per pound spent as well. Additionally, if you have an American Express card, it’s worth checking your Amex Offers before booking. The issuer sometimes offers bonus points or a discount on Airbnb bookings.

Bottom line

At first glance, the cash value of the Avios earned isn’t huge. However, every little helps towards being able to make a bigger, more premium redemption with your Avios. At the end of the day, if you’re going to book the Airbnb trip anyway, you may as well do it through the partnership with BA, as Avios you’ll earn are an added perk — what’s not to love?
