EasyJet adds in-app voice search functionality for booking flights

EasyJet has unveiled its ‘Speak Now’ functionality for its app. The tool allows passengers to use their voices to search for flight information when booking.

At Wednesday’s World Aviation Festival in London, EasyJet’s Head of Digital Experience Daniel Young announced the update. The introduction of the in-app voice search comes at a time when virtual AI assistants are becoming increasingly part of everyday life and EasyJet wants to capture the customer base who prefers to use this type of technology.

Young hopes the voice search feature will be a significant customer experience improvement for users. The feature will be available in English at the end of September on iOS.

In October 2018, the carrier added the functionality to its app to allow passengers to search for a flight by uploading a picture of where they wanted to go.

In a competition at the WAF, EasyJet’s app was voted as the best in the world by a panel of judges, including TPG‘s very own Brian Kelly. EasyJet’s app was pitted against four other airline apps including Emirates, KLM, Turkish Airlines and United.
