If you collect Heathrow Rewards points, you could take advantage of a nice bonus. As first reported by Head for Points, Heathrow Rewards, the loyalty programme of London Heathrow Airport, is allowing you to convert points to Avios with a 50% bonus until 2 June 2020.
Heathrow Rewards points can be earned for every £1 spent at Heathrow Airport, including at:
- Airport shops;
- Airport bars, restaurants and cafes;
- Paid-for-entry Heathrow airport lounges such as Plaza Premium and Aspire lounges;
- Heathrow Parking; and
- Heathrow Express.
A popular use of Heathrow Rewards points is converting them to vouchers to use at hundreds of stores and outlets at Heathrow, Airport Plaza Premium lounges or Heathrow Express at a rate of 500 Heathrow Rewards points for a £5 voucher. This gives you an effective cashback rate of 1%.
The problem right now for many travellers is that they aren’t passing through Heathrow Airport anytime soon. Even for those few travellers that are, there aren’t many opportunities to spend those vouchers, given most retail outlets, bars, restaurants and cafes as well as all airport lounges are closed for the foreseeable future.
Another option is to convert the points to airline partners at a rate of 1:1 — and now, it could be more appealing. Right now, you’ll get a 50% bonus, so 1 Heathrow Rewards point will become 1.5 BA Avios. You can then use Avios to book future flight, up to a year in advance, as well as various non-flight redemptions. You can transfer as few as 250 points to take advantage of this bonus.
If you don’t see yourself passing through Heathrow Airport anytime soon to use your points as a voucher but want to do something with your Heathrow Rewards points balance, this could be a great way to maximise your travel with the 50% bonus.
Keep in mind that the offer is only valid through 2 June.
