Finnair is bringing back their Airbus widebody A350 and A330 for selected flights between London Heathrow (LHR) and Helsinki (HEL) over the Christmas period, and it’s a great way for Avios collectors to maximise their travel.
While most carriers’ business class within Europe isn’t much to get excited about, some airlines operate certain flights with widebody aircraft featuring their best business class seats. You can expect fully-flat seats, direct aisle access from every seat, privacy and plenty of storage.

Finnair will operate long-haul configured A350 and A330 flights from Heathrow to Helsinki between 17 December and 2 January as some morning AY1332 flights.

Finnair is a Oneworld partner of British Airways, meaning you can earn and redeem Avios on flights operated by Finnair, such as between Heathrow and Helsinki. You’ll need 16,500 Avios plus around £45 each way, per person in business class for these flights.
Given the quality of the business class product on these widebody flights, you’re getting excellent value from your Avios and it will be much more comfortable than the intra-Europe seats found on British Airways planes on routes like this.
You can book these flights on BritishAirways.com just as you would redeem Avios for a BA operated flight. Make sure you choose a Finnair service operated by the Airbus A350 or A330 aircraft to score these seats – the A319 and A320 aircraft are narrow-body aircraft with the much less desirable economy-style seats in business class.
