German flag carrier Lufthansa has announced it will be adding a year-round, twice-daily service from Frankfurt (FRA) to Bristol. The new route will be the airline’s eighth U.K. airport, adding to those already served including, Birmingham (BHX), Edinburgh (EDI), Glasgow (GLA), Manchester (MAN), London (LCY, LHR) and, starting March 2020, Newcastle (NCL). The flights will be operated by Embraer E190 aircraft.
Service is due to start in spring 2020, though tickets have still not been released for purchase. The route will operate on the following timetables, though Lufthansa has not published at what time the Bristol (BRS) return will land in Frankfurt:
- Frankfurt (FRA) 8:20 a.m. Departure ⇒ Bristol (BRS) 9 a.m. Arrival
- Frankfurt (FRA) 4:30 p.m. Departure ⇒ Bristol (BRS) 5:10 p.m. Arrival
- Bristol (BRS) 9:35 a.m. Departure
- Bristol (BRS) 5:50 p.m. Departure
While we don’t yet know revenue fares, based on Lufthansa’s Miles & More award chart (PDF), a return award flight will cost 30,000 miles from Europe to Europe.
Lufthansa has an extensive global route network from its hub in Frankfurt. Bristol is getting several new routes from a number of carriers, including TUI, which is launching three new routes for the summer season.
