Soon enough, you won’t have to be flying first class or even be on a private jet to be treated like a rock star. Manchester Airport (MAN) is opening an exclusive private airport terminal in early September 2019, and anyone can access it with the swipe of a credit card.
Called PremiAir, the separate terminal can be accessed regardless of with which airline you are travelling. For departing passengers, you’ll have the following access options:
- Priority (£50 per person) — For those travelling with hand luggage only with private security screening and a premium tarmac limousine transfer to your departure gate.
- Premium (£100 per person) — Designed for those with checked luggage and with all the features of the Priority access, but with the addition of Wi-Fi and premium food and drinks (including Champagne).
For those passengers landing into Manchester, there is an Arrivals package available for £125 per person, which includes a premium transfer from your aircraft, private passport control channel, lounge access and any checked luggage will be collected and returned to you personally.
While there are other airport lounges at Manchester already, being driven across the tarmac directly to your aircraft without having to navigate queues and gate numbers is both a hugely beneficial feature and an #AvGeek dream.
The concept appears very similar to the little-known first class lounge at London City Airport (LCY), which TPG UK recently reviewed. Manchester Airport has not yet opened bookings for PremiAir, though if you are keen to experience this and have a flight departing or arriving from Manchester from September onwards, sign-up for updates on its website.
