Wizz Air continues its bold mid-pandemic U.K. expansion with the addition of even more routes from it’s brand new base in Yorkshire. As of October, the ultra-low-cost airline will be adding Eindhoven (EIN), Fuerteventura (FUE), Gran Canaria (LPA), Lanzarote (ACE), Lisbon (LIS) and Tenerife (TFS) to its route network from Doncaster Sheffield (DSA).
The news comes just two weeks after it announced that Doncaster Sheffield Airport would become Wizz Air’s second U.K. base.
The new routes will start on 22 October to Lanzarote (ACE) and Tenerife (TFS) and will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Next, on 23 October, twice-weekly flights to Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura (FUE) and Lisbon (LIS) will start, operating on Mondays and Fridays. And finally, Eindhoven (EIN) flights will commence on 25 October and operate on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The routes from DSA to these new mainly popular tourist destinations will provide the 1.3 million residents in South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas with an ultra-low-cost option. Alternatives currently include flights with Ryanair and EasyJet from airports further afield like East Midlands (EMA), Leeds Bradford (LBA) and Manchester (MAN).
The addition of the six routes brings the total new routes for the airline to 13. Overall, the airline now operates from Doncaster to 23 destinations.
