Mancunians, there’s a new reason to consider Qatar Airways. On Tuesday, the airline announced that it’s planning to add its famed Qsuite business-class product on its existing route between Manchester (MAN) and Doha (DOH).

As of 14 February 2020, Qatar Airways will introduce a Qsuite-equipped aircraft on the route with one frequency, before eventually switching to two daily frequencies in March.

The Qsuite-equipped aircraft will operate on the following MAN-DOH frequencies as of 14 February:

  • QR27: Doha (DOH) 7:45 a.m. Departure ⇒ Manchester (MAN) 12:25 p.m. Arrival
  • QR28: Manchester (MAN) 2:10 p.m. Departure ⇒ Doha (DOH) 12:10 a.m. (+1) Arrival

Then, as of 1 March, it’ll additionally operate on the following frequencies:

  • QR21: Doha (DOH) 1:20 a.m. Departure ⇒ Manchester (MAN) 6 a.m. Arrival
  • QR22: Manchester (MAN) 7:25 a.m. Departure ⇒ Doha (DOH) 5:15 p.m. Arrival

The QR23/24 frequencies — the third daily frequency between the two cities — will continue to operate with the previous-generation business-class product until further notice. If you have the choice, it’ll be better to opt for the Qsuite-equipped routes.

Qatar’s Qsuite is widely regarded as the best business-class seat in the skies. In fact, in won the award of Best International Business Class Product at the TPG Awards in both 2018 and 2019. It’s well known for its comfortable cabin, closing doors, fantastic food and beverage and service, as well as the option to convert the center seats into a four-person pod.

If you have a stockpile of British Airways Avios in your Executive Club account, you can use the points to redeem for a Qsuite flight from Manchester to Doha — and beyond. Based on BA’s new partner award chart, you can expect to redeem 62,000 Avios one-way for a Qsuite flight plus taxes and fees between MAN and DOH. Of course, if you plan to connect on to another destination within Qatar’s route network, you can expect to pay more Avios for the redemption.

Cobranded British Airways credit cards are the fastest way to earn Avios quickly. However, also remember that you can earn Avios by transferring them at a 1:1 rate from American Express U.K. Membership Rewards.
